Infographic: Psychology Of Color

I’ve been meaning to write a post about colors. No online marketing blog is complete without talk of how color affects the way we see things, and how we buy, the subconscious influence.

Humans may be social animals, but before that we are visual creatures.

Color plays a much bigger role in influencing us than what most of us might think. The power of color in marketing is evident — there is a reason why companies test the colors of everything from advertisements to banner ads, call to action and even simple web buttons.

If one color or shade outperforms another, you can effortlessly increase conversion rates without changing anything about a particular webpage. Alternatively, you are leaving money on the table if a red button results in more action than the green one you are using.

Luckily, this infographic titled “Psychology of Color” lists almost everything you need to know about how each color influences emotions of users.

It goes into detail, with branding examples, of six major colors (both primary and secondary) and their personality, emotions, marketing and politics. A variety of statistics are also on offer showing how the use of colors affects marketing results.

For example, almost 85% of consumers cite color as the primary reason they buy a particular product. That’s an important, important consideration, anyway you look at it.
