Blue Yeti Microphone Review

Blue Yeti Microphone Review

This my Blue Yeti Microphone review. There are microphones, and then there are microphones. The Blue Yeti is a legend among its kind, and one of the most feature rich mics that you can buy right now.

It’s not the most affordable option around, what with its three-figure price, but you get what you pay for. And that my friends is excellent quality and ease of use, resulting in the best bang for your buck.

A Yeti, you say?

Blue has been making some of the finest microphones around, with each of their creations allowing users to create highly professional recordings directly on their computers. The Yeti line is a USB microphone from the company, and provides a stable mix of price and performance.

Large and heavy, this the Yeti comes packed with multiple modes like cardioid, bidirectional, omnidirectional and stereo that allow you to capture your voice as you see fit.

You also get gain control, headphone monitor output, and even a mute button. Though sadly, the loud click of the mute button gets easily picked up during recording, which makes it awkward in some cases – like professional recordings for your website, business, capturing a podcast, or even singing.

A more discrete, inaudible option here for muting would have been godsend.

Performance

I have been using Blue Yeti regularly not only for my business, but for also communication purposes, and have found it to deliver really good sound quality in robust little package. Now, while users some may still classify it as midrange, but you can definitely opt for more expensive options.

It will take a you a bit of time to learn how to use the gain and pattern, and even the mute feature, but if your business has you talking to clients and customers, or doing professional recording work, then you’re sure to appreciate the quality and clarity you get in Skype and other recording software.

The Yeti offers a whole bunch more features than other competing mics in this price range, and when you top it up with its solid compatibility with all the latest versions of Windows and Mac operating systems, and availability in seven different colors, you have a winner for sure!

Just be sure to sound proof your recording area if you are doing professional recording, as the Yeti picks up background noise rather easily. It’s perfectly fine for communication, though, and your voice and video calls will sound the best they can.

Verdict

Nowhere near the most affordable microphone around, nor the highest quality, the Blue Yeti nevertheless strikes a rare perfect balance of features, style and value for money. This one is for your if you do voice work, field recordings, conference calls, and podcasts.
