How would you like to help design some of the most critical worldwide Federal government websites?  Octo Consulting Group is seeking a WordPress Front-End Developer to join our growing team on a major federal program in Washington, DC or Alexandria, VA. This position is a critical part of the design team, working directly with the UI/UX Designer to implement a critical part of US Federal Government communication worldwide.

Develop HTML/CSS/JS-based user interfaces coordinating with the UI/UX Designer on customer-approved designs.  Integrate with PHP based backend functionality as needed. 

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of HTML and CSS above and beyond simply using a WYSIWYG editor.  In addition, this position requires the candidate have their finger on the pulse of browser upgrades to know how their pages will render across the world.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Use HTML / CSS / JavaScript to develop visually stunning user-driven websites without a wysiwyg editor.
  • Maintain proficiency with content management solutions such as WordPress.
  • Work within creative team to develop and maintain highly visible agency websites.
  • Set up, manage, and configure hosting environments.
  • Proactively perform cross-browser testing and optimizations.
  • Maintain well-documented, reusable, and transferable code.
  • Maintain working knowledge of new development software, trends, and practices related to your responsibilities.
