Raging Bull is a newsletter publishing company (similar to the Maryland-based company, Money Map Press, an Agora Publishing affiliate). Customers of Raging Bull sign up for different informational based subscriptions, newsletters, and emails to gain information on stocks and trading options. Specifically, subscribers to the newsletter get information about stocks and profitable investment options.

Raging Bull has an office in Connecticut and recently opened an office in Towson, MD where they're functioning very much as a start-up. Currently they have 12 people on-site in Towson (including their sales and developers) and are looking to bring on 5 additional front-end developers and a project coordinator (who will be responsible for working with the Project Manager to divide and organize the work being done on the website).

As a whole, the company has 15 total developers between Towson and their office in CT. The breakdown is 7 back end devs, 3 full stack devs with 2 more full stack devs being onboarded, and they're currently hiring 5 front-end developers (of various experience levels).

The front-end developers will be working on creating micorsites/new landing pages for their website ( They will be creating and changing email templates that go out to their subscribers, creating various pop-ups and interactive functionality for the websites that will educate users on different articles they might be interested/what's going on in the market at that time, etc., and helping to track campaigns with different analytics tools and tracking.

Raging Bull, as a company, is using HTML, CSS, JavaScript on the front-end and a tool called infusion-soft on the back end.

Work Environment: Start up environment. This environment is fun, has a loose structure, and everyone has a go-getter attitude (not a punch in/punch out 9-5 role).

The manager described his management style as "loose", so this person will need to be a self starter, motivated, and be able to hit the ground running with new website development.

We've been to the office/visited and it is smaller and still under some construction since it's THAT new, but definitely a fun vibe around hard working people.
Interview Information: Phone screen with the manager; development assessment from the client, in-person interview.

The last time we went through with a candidate, they did the in-person first, then gave the technical assessment. Might do that again, but we have a lot of good information on the tech assessment. They're not so much looking for someone to do everything 100% correctly, but someone who 1) tries their best and 2) who will 'not take no for an answer'. They will give the assessment back with feedback/recommendations and the manager expressed in the past candidates have just taken that as a 'no.' but if they come back with edits or push back as to reasoning why they did something or why they disagree with him, he said "I'll hire them." so really speaks to the mentality of the organization and wanting someone to take/implement feedback and not give up.
Who is the Internal/External Customer:
Impact to the Internal/External Customer:In January, the company grew $1.4 million, last month they grew an additional $5 million in sales, and by the end of the year they hope to grow $100 mil as a company. They have really big goals and this person is going to be integral in helping their growth.
Business Challenge: Raging Bull is a newer company, so getting their website up and running is a top priority for sales and additional company growth.
EVP:Opportunity for mentorship from professionals with over 25 years experience in the field. Access to executives and working closely with the entire team. Right now, the sales team, developers, and c-level exec's sit all in the same area.

Raging Bull is a new company and this is an awesome opportunity to get in at the ground floor. They are growing and aside from their start-up/non-traditional environment in the office, this role allows for partial remote flexibility (2 days on site and 3 days work from home)!

The company offers great benefits and perks such as profit sharing for their internal team (i.e. if the company grows, then the team bonuses based off that).

Jason, the CTO sits on-site every day and has been working with TEK for over 10 years. We have a great relationship with him and the COO, Bret, who sits on site 2x per week. Since the office is so small right now, they will all be sitting in the same room, so great access to leadership and good opportunity to build relationships with these people early. The company is projected to grow A LOT in the next year and also in the next 5 years, so this is an awesome change to get in while the company is new and really have an impact on shaping it.

Creative freedom and the chance to try out new technologies. They're very much in the "let's try it" phase, so this is the opportunity for them to try, fail, learn, and try again.
Non-Technical Skills: Some database experience is nice to have (understanding how to pull from the back end to tie in their code to the front end and creative API structures, etc.)

This is not necessary for more junior level candidates, but some exposure in school/classes to the foundations would be nice to have and highlight in a candidates experience.
