Description

The VP, SEO is responsible for spearheading SEO initiatives for Edelman clients. This person will act as a senior member of the SEO team monitoring overall SEO trends, search algorithm updates, and emerging SEO strategies for implementation into client strategy. The role not only drives data-driven SEO content strategy for clients, but will also focus on technical SEO, being a key integrated partner in all web development projects and technical audits. 

The role will support the operations of the growing SEO team in terms of building out Edelman’s SEO capability, identifying and participating in new business opportunities and operationalizing the team. 

What you do: 

  • Own the development and execution of the SEO strategy for wide range of clients  
  • Define SEO standards and guidelines including URL structure, linking, page titles, meta tags, keywords, headings, anchor text and site maps. 
  • Create a content strategy in collaboration with the team that leverages professional and user generated content to maximize SEO benefits.  
  • Ability to review site content and structure and provide SEO optimization recommendations. 
  • Define SEO requirements and provide direction to copywriters, designers and engineers with implementation and fine tuning. 
  • Develop a framework and reports to systematically track and improve SEO performance. 
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in how search engines measure relevancy and translate them into tactics that ensure a consistently high page rank and top positions on head, shoulder and tail terms. 
  • Build and maintain a network of domain experts to stay on the cutting edge.  
  • Advise on website development tweaks to enhance SEO: for example, redirects, error pages, use of JavaScript.  
  • Content development best practices. 
  • Keyword research. aggressive targets and deadlines. 
  • Passion for staying current in a rapidly evolving environment and leveraging blogs and online forums to gain a competitive edge.

What you bring: 

  • 8+ years of professional experience, with 5+ years of search, Digital or integrated media planning and/or related fields 
  • Knowledge of information architecture, web usability, audience segmentation, web governance, and web accessibility standards. 
  • Experience in search marketing and SEO, development of search strategies development, management and optimization of SEM campaigns. 
  • Understanding of SEO best practices to inform content development and support SEM campaign performance. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communications skills, analytical skills. 
  • Knowledge of use of data, content, and technology to influence consumer behavior. 
  • Ability to present campaign results to senior leadership, seamlessly balance strategic initiatives and operational functions of the digital team 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, EXCEL & PowerPoint) Experience in Google Ads, Bing Ads, Google Tag Manager, SEO, Google Analytics, and enterprise search platforms
