Our Opportunity:

Company is seeking a passionate Senior Director of Content and Community to join our team in Dania Beach, FL. From expressing our brand vision and ethos to helping consumers find the best solutions and product for their daily routine, our Sr Director of Content & Community is a skilled and artful storyteller who can weave together content and commerce.  S/he has the vision for developing the full funnel experience and the ability to operationalize it across marketing vehicles.

What you'll do:

We are looking for an experienced marketing leader to create connected stories across the Company brand, culture, pet lifestyle and pet parenting expertise. This role is responsible for the creation, delivery and distribution of multimedia content experience to reach consumers and customers.

This role will be accountable for leading the (1) editorial, (2) organic social channels, (3) content marketing teams to deliver the content calendar comprised of campaign and evergreen content. The primary vehicles today are our blog, PetCentral, our site Company.com and Company app, and social channels (FB, IG, Pinterest). This role will continue to elevate those experiences while expanding into more communities, distribution channels and media partnerships. 

Voice and Creative

  • Rooted in our brand purpose, develop a differentiated editorial strategy and calendar that connects Company to millennial consumers via lifestyle, culture, and pet parenting.
  • Continually elevate and develop editorial and video content that is signature to the Company attitude, personality and point of view.
  • Lead the editorial teams in theme and story concepting and development.
  • Artfully tell stories that communicate our unique position and the products we offer to create connection with consumers.

Community Development

  • Become the brand for millennials as the destination for interesting and culturally relevant content related to pets broadly.
  • Connect with people who are interested in pets, pet parents and Company customers to establish our position as the credible and noteworthy source for empathetic expertise, culturally relevant content, and timely insights and conversations.
  • Create Company relationships with influencers within and outside the pet space.
  • Encourage active participation with our various community and continue to grow Company’s influence and relevance.

Channel Management

  • Manage the social and blog platforms with technical acumen
  • Provide an analytical perspective on channel performance with KPI framework and engagement metrics that are appropriate to the channels and our goals.
  • Continually optimize engagements against metrics, provide the right levels of reporting
  • Translate data into insights to inform content creation, and distribution investment

Content Marketing and Distribution 

  • Develop the roadmap for content that aligns against evergreen, brand campaigns, and integrated marketing initiatives.
  • Develop mechanism to bring in other people’s voices to be a part of the Company experience
  • Establish strategic partnerships to create association and reach audiences
  • Develop content marketing that effectively gets our content in front of the right people, en masse.
  • Leverage SEO best practices to ensure content is discoverable and relevant to audience needs

Management and Operations

  • Develop the operating model to create premium long and short form content that consistently speaks in the Company voice while delivering at scale and efficiently.
  • Mentor, lead and improve the editorial team, social and content marketing team
  • Establish strong working relationships with collaborators in brand, product marketing, creative services, product management, SEO, merchandising and other related functions
  • Regularly provide insights and updates to senior leadership establishing Content as a primary vehicle to build the brand and drive repeat and loyal engagement.

What you'll need:

  • Experience with creating, launching and/or revamping content to tell a new story to new audiences
  • Proven track record delivering content, content marketing and community development for consumer lifestyle and emotive brands
  • Retail/ecommerce, including current industry trends
  • Experience directing content experiences for a variety of digital marketing channels
  • Exceptional writing and/or editor skills in your own right.
  • Experience handling budgets and formulating resourcing plans
  • Ability to be data guided and insights driven
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Natural collaborator comfortable organizing and navigating across groups
  • High bar for creative excellence
