Description

The Senior Design Developer will play an integral role in building and optimizing Asurion’s fast growing products. As technology expands and evolves, so does the complexity of making it all work. We are focused on solving this problem for our 40+ million customers around the world.

A successful candidate will be excited about helping to craft consumer-facing content experiences aimed at helping our customers enjoy technology in their everyday lives. This role will develop and produce the look and feel of a customer-facing product through illustration, UX principles, and front-end web development. This position’s goal is to engage our customers and to help drive new users to the product through innovative design, bonus points for chops in interactive and visual design.

What’ll you do (responsibilities)

  • Help create a large scale content-based customer-facing product aimed to surprise and delight current and new users.

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional content team to evolve a concept into customer-facing content — from design exploration through front-end development.

  • Participate in design and code reviews with your teammates.

  • Work with our creative team to give life to the Asurion brand on the web.

  • Develop and contribute to our front-end design system so we remain consistent across our platforms and channels.

  • Work with ambiguity and flexibility — the product will change and evolve to reach goals.

  • Will report directly to the Director of Design in the Content organization within Product at a Sr. Manager / Principal level.

What we’re looking for: (Minimum qualifications)

  • A portfolio with examples of your thoughtful and well-executed design.

  • 5-7 years of industry experience*  in UX Design, front-end development, web design (or similar), preferably on customer-facing platforms.

  • An ability to write semantic HTML, JavaScript, and functional CSS to bring designs to life.

  • Experience designing and building responsive, mobile-first web pages.

  • Experience with frameworks like React and crafting animations in JavaScript.

  • Experience contributing to and/or maintaining a front-end design system or style guide.

  • An ability to communicate reasoning behind your work, as well as the ability to give and receive written and verbal feedback.

  • An ability to work in an autonomous, remote-friendly environment where communication is frequently asynchronous and in writing.

  • A willingness to take egoless ownership of your projects, adhere to timelines, share works-in-progress, and launch unfinished products that will be iterated on.

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and guidelines.

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.

  • Proven experience as a highly effective collaborator and communicator.

*We know people won’t apply if we don’t give guidelines. But, we care more about your experiences and the skills you’ve developed, rather than how long it took you to get there. If you feel you fit the requirements, awesome. We want you to apply.

What will make you stand out (preferred qualifications)

  • A love of typography, branding, and/or illustration.

  • An interest in copywriting and content strategy as a crucial part of the design process.

  • Familiarity with static web tools to build websites, such as Jekyll or GitHub Pages.

  • Experience working in a content or media context.

  • Experience with analytics and social listening tools.

Why you should join

  • A startup feel with the backing of a multi-million dollar company.

  • Working on a product that will be seen by millions of our customers.

  • Work in a Journey Team environment where each autonomous team influences the product.

  • Work directly with designers, developers, product managers, editors, and writers on a daily basis.

  • An unlimited vacation policy and great benefits, including competitive terms with bonus structure.

  • Opportunities to grow and develop your skill-set.

  • Work in downtown Nashville minutes from historic music venues and a variety of amazing restaurants, coffee shops, and craft breweries.

Only registered members can apply for jobs.
