Description
This position requires the ability to write attention-getting, practitioner- and patient-facing marketing communications pieces including blog posts, eBlasts, and SEO-compliant web copy. The Marketing Content Writer will also be responsible for the development and completion of targeted scientific cornerstone content.
An ability to search, understand, interpret, edit, and appropriately articulate nutritionally oriented scientific research is also essential to this position. In the long term, this position will require an understanding of the latest applications of clinical nutrition and nutritional biochemistry, of FDA (DSHEA) and FTC labeling regulations, and of the culture and sensitivities of the "practitioner' niche of the natural products industry. For those from outside the industry, the ability to learn quickly and adapt to the style and rules governing this industry will be a strong indicator of longevity and success in this position.
Responsibilities:
Write articles, papers, and product literature that are used for both educational and marketing purposes. These are written following DSHEA guidelines.
Create or edit the following materials:
Practitioner Pieces (Detail Aids, Clinical Guides, Science Reviews) - Required experience
• Write and edit practitioner pieces. These are some of our most important sales tools and are used to detail the benefits and rationale of a specific product or occasionally a group of products. This is an ongoing task.
Patient Education (Product Brochures, Formula Focus Sheets, etc.)
• Create and edit patient pieces. These brochures are designed to provide information about new and existing products that are grouped together under a specific health topic. They are provided to our customers who distribute them to their patients.
Blog Posts
• Research and write creative, educational posts with supporting references to promote Marketing calendar themes. Brainstorm with the Writing and Marketing teams to determine topics of interest to our audience.
Product Catalogs
• Edit and occasionally write copy on all revised formulas, adding new product information, updating structure/function claims, revising the ingredient cross-reference chart and excipient grid, and writing new introductory copy.
Company Brochures
• Edit and occasionally write copy that promotes the company's Difference through corporate brochures for both practitioners and patients
Statement & Invoice Stuffers
• These creative double-sided pieces are noninventory literature to promote product specials.
Ad Copy
• Concept, write, and edit copy for ads placed in technical or consumer trade journals or magazines with input from the Marketing group.
Email Newsletters
• Write copy for weekly practitioner newsletters.
Presentations (Sales, Science, and Nutrition Masters)
• Edit presentations, revise copy as needed.
Digital
• Write and edit copy for websites and landing pages, both practitioner- and patient-facing. Work with the Social team to strategize and write copy for posts on all social media platforms.Miscellaneous Tasks
• Other writing and editing assignments may arise from time to time, such as product summaries, special brochures, letters, etc.
Label Review
• Responsible for reviewing all label copy to ensure accuracy and consistency, in addition to writing the left panel label copy. Maintain the Label Format Guidelines document to keep others up to date with correct labeling procedures.
Maintain Style Guide
• Work with the Writing team to update the company style guide as needed. Enforce style guide through written copy and reviews of all materials.
• This role will also assist with other ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
• College or university degree in marketing, advertising, or journalism
• RD or nutritionist or similar credentials a plus
• MWC certification a plus
• 5-7 years of writing experience
• Extensive editing and proofreading experience
• Previous work in biochemistry, nutrition, or pharmaceuticals preferred
• Excellent writing, grammar, and proofreading skills
• Ability to read and evaluate technical information and find relevant studies to support assigned topics
