THIS IS A REMOTE ELIGIBLE POSITION

KAR Global is looking for a talented Frontend Developer to work on our enterprise Marketing & Communications Team. This position will help our organization build and maintain WordPress, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and static sites. Reporting to KAR’s Creative Director, the position will collaborate closely with the creative team and project owners across the wide range of KAR Global brands and subsidiaries to provide digital solutions and products that help achieve customer campaign goals.
 

As a Developer on the creative team, you’ll be expected to build visually sound and functional websites for our internal and external customers. You will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including managing databases, implementation of plugins, site integrations and security updates. You’ll also be expected to collaborate with and/or manage third-party developer support as needed to support high visibility projects.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical code and database management expertise, with experience working collaboratively with a creative team on a wide range of projects. The candidate must also be able to demonstrate that experience through an online portfolio of projects and case studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Development: Hands-on development to create sites that support new and existing products and services across all of the KAR Global brands. The position will require independent and collaborative work to implement and maintain clean, functional, responsive and effective websites that help bring great ideas to life.

  • Digital Processes: Maintain and improve current development processes and testing techniques. Advise on new opportunities to improve technologies and product performance while also tracking, testing and debugging any site issues. Assists in project planning and execution throughout a website or product development life-cycle.

  • Database Management: The position requires enough back-end knowledge to feel comfortable standardizing deployment processes, maintaining hosting databases, connecting and collecting data, and improving processes to more effectively deliver customer products.
     

The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant hands-on experience in web development.

  • At least 3 years of experience using WordPress/PHP and building and managing WordPress compatible templates, content management systems and plugins.

  • A strong knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, Scalable CSS3, PHP, MySQL, and Front- End Frameworks.

  • Knowledge of HTTP protocols, SSL certificates, and web application architecture.

  • Able to work with Adobe CC product suite static design files (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, XD) and seamlessly convert those files to HTML/CSS.

  • Experience consulting on the technical feasibility of user interface and user experience designs.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred skill sets include:

  • Strong UI/UX and design experience with an outstanding attention to detail and the ability to articulate complex solutions simply for end users.

  • Experience working with creative teams, either in-house or through an agency. Previous agency management and project management experience a plus.

  • Experience using custom development solutions within Salesforce Marketing Cloud. (e.g. AmpScript)

  • Experience with subversion control systems (with a preference for Git) and knowledge of web development process, including local development and deployment.

  • Familiar with popular JavaScript toolsets (i.e., Gulp, Webpack) to help steer and drive development.

  • Proficient in debugging and refactoring inherited codebases.

The following skills are a plus:

  • Keen on using tools/methodologies to help write maintainable and scalable CSS codebases (i.e., Less, Sass, BEM, etc.).

  • Knowledge of WP Engine hosting platform.

  • Experience and knowledge of the automotive industry.

  • Experience using Adobe CC product suite tools, Sketch and/or Figma.

Must be willing to travel up to 10% including international travel.
