Primary focus:

The Editorial Content Specialist is responsible for managing day-to-day execution and planning of the Direct Energy Business blog and social media channels based on the content strategy, business goals, and audience targets. The position is also responsible for overseeing creation of content pieces such as eguides, landing pages, and videos, and may write and edit some longform pieces. The Editorial Content Specialist will work closely with team members to track content performance and optimize prospect/customer journeys.

The right candidate will be a high-organized professional with experience in digital and social media marketing and strong written communication skills. Analytical and creative skills are equally beneficial; keywork research and SEO writing skills are a big plus.   • Plan and manage the editorial calendar for the blog and social media
  • Execute on the social media strategy with a focus on LinkedIn
  • Write and edit industry-focused blog articles
  • Write social media posts and design basic imagery
  • Perform keyword research and implement SEO best practices in writing and web development
  • Use Google Analytics, Moz, and other tools to track content performance against benchmarks
  • Create and edit web content using HTML and CSS within a CMS platform
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and perform independent industry research
  • Design narrative content journeys for targeted audience segments
  • Coordinate with writers and designs and assist in content creation
  • Implement strategic initiatives that drive revenue through ecommerce and other web channels


  • BA/BS in writing, marketing, communications, or similar field
  • Minimum of 2 years in writing, content creation, or marketing role
  • Experience with CMS, Google Analytics, and LinkedIn marketing a plus


  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven long-form and social media writing capabilities
  • Organizational skills to maintain the editorial calendar, juggle and meet deadlines, and keep track of content from the creation process through launch and the lifespan of the content piece.
  • Critical thinking and strategic planning skills
  • Audience-centered mindset
  • Ability to analyze and present data-driven results
  • Command of SEO best practices
