We have an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Director of Digital News Strategy and Growth to join a brand new International Digital News Organization located in Washington, DC.

We are searching for a Director of Digital News Strategy and Growth who will work primarily to drive audience growth, engagement, retention and positive referrals on all digital platforms pertaining to this global company.

We are searching for a Director who thinks like a Journalist and a Media Executive charged with driving rapid growth, leading the development of content initiatives in all forms in order to drive audience growth, engagement, repeat visits, page views, time spent on platform; and particularly to develop strategies to segment our audience and to drive growth and traffic among powerful influencers from the worlds of business, entertainment, and politics.

Job Details

Responsibilities:
* Develop the content strategy that supports and extends the company's reach on digital platforms. Determine which online content, UI, and UX innovations and marketing methods work for the company, and accordingly develop the guiding objectives for the digital team to follow.
* Oversee the development and project management of the website, apps, newsletters, podcasts, mobile sites and other digital platforms.
* Work closely with the software development team, UI/UX, front and back end teams to deliver an engaging content consumer experience across all owned platforms.
* Build relationships with content editors to shape, advise on and influence output according to live digital metrics.
* Ensure that content is optimized for search and user experience for all digital output channels including online, social media, email, mobile, and video.
* Work closely with the Creative Director to ensure a consistent style across all channels.
* Attend the editorial meetings with the Editor in Chief, and team meetings to direct the day's news planning and roadmap priorities.
* Ensure content gathering and technical outputs are suited to digital consumption cycles.
* Monitor, with the Marketing Department, to ensure the integration of content with the requirements of successful online marketing.
* Continuously assesses content effectiveness by monitoring and gathering analytics.
* Develop systems and best practices for content creation, output, distribution, maintenance, retrieval and repurposing, including the real-time implementation of content strategies.
* Identify new systems and methods for optimizing digital readership. Advise on workflows and CMS functionality in connection with this.

Experience / Qualifications / Skills:
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Web Development, or related discipline
* MBA or a Post-Graduate Digital Marketing focus would be a plus.
* Technical understanding of HTML, XHTML, CSS, Java, web publishing, Flash based applications, etc.
* Expertise in all major business software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office - particular Visio and PowerPoint, etc.).
* Fluency in web analytics tools (Adobe Omniture, Google Analytics), social media marketing applications (Hoot Suite, Tweet deck, etc.) and leading social media monitoring platforms
* Must be an expert in all things related to content and channel optimization, brand consistency, segmentation and localization, analytics and meaningful measurement.
* Must have experience in successful multi-channel content business startups with massive online audiences.
* Must be skilled in developing successful distribution strategies and tactics that drive audience growth, platform impact and revenue.
* Must have experience effectively managing diverse groups.
* Must have content management system experience.
* Crisis communications experience is required.
* Audience development and engagement strategies experience a plus.
* Master of new media tools (has own blog, has proliferated social media outreach, etc.).
