Cotsen Foundation for the ART of TEACHING , a California tax-exempt private foundation, seeks to transform good teachers into great teachers. This transformation occurs through a program in which proven educators receive coaching and mentoring to achieve the highest levels of teaching excellence. Currently, 217 teachers in 32 schools from across 12 Southern California districts comprise the 2019 ART of TEACHING cohorts. The Foundation now has more than 1,000 alumni, and continues to expand its growth and funding to intensify the role that it plays in supporting excellence in teaching and learning in Southern California elementary classrooms.

JOB DESCRIPTION The Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Executive Director with the development and implementation of the communication plans for the Foundation. This is an exempt, full-time position. Work hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with some evenings and weekends throughout the year.


· Develops a strategic internal/external communications plan for each academic year

· Creates original content such as articles, newsletters, and videos for the Foundation’s websites and communications campaigns

· Develops electronic communications campaigns catered to diverse audiences that promote the Foundation’s work and/or facilitate the Foundation’s participants

· Maintains and actively contributes to the growth of the Foundation's distribution lists to maximize communications efforts

· Manages the Foundation's social media accounts and all outreach efforts via social media

· Manages all Foundation websites by posting new content and updating existing content

· Develops and maintains relationships with consultants contracted to support the Foundation’s communications efforts

· Manages the development of Foundation marketing materials (including press kits, brochures, promotional items, etc.)

· Develops and manages the Foundation's "Communications and Technology" budget

· Attends the Foundation's major events and supports event set-up and registration process as needed; works with venues to facilitate the technology and AV needs of speakers; works with professional photographer/videographer to ensure that specific events and speakers are recorded


• Four-year college degree

• Two years experience in the field of communications, writing, research

• Comprehensive understanding of technology and its applications, including proficiency in website management including Content Management Systems (WordPress and Joomla); Email Marketing Systems (Constant Contact); MS Office; Mac and PC proficient; desktop publishing software (InDesign); social media tools (mostly Twitter); video editing tools (iMovie); video hosting tools (Vimeo and YouTube); Photography/Videography
