Front End Developer

The Data Engineering team in Bayer Crop Science Biologics is responsible for data capture, integration, visualization and operationalization of data pipelines for high-throughput, high-value assays which feed our R&D product pipeline. We're a distributed, diverse team which uses Agile and DevOps development techniques to enable our data pipeline both in cloud and on-premise.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
• Work as a member of the Data Engineering team in Bayer Crop Science Biologics to build web based applications for high-throughput fermentation data generated by next generation fermenters
• Design, write, and test high-quality, performant, and functional front-end code
• Collaborate with stakeholders in Bayer's R&D IT group and other teams in Biologics to achieve broader project goals
• Provides technical contributions in a fast-paced team environment to accelerate our efforts to build an analytics-driven product pipeline
• Use DevOps and Agile software development techniques to deliver on our mission to provide high-quality, complete, cloud-based datasets & applications

Qualification & Competencies
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics or related discipline with relevant experience
• 7+ years of experience as a front-end developer
• In-depth understanding of web development process (design, development and deployment)
• Expert in front-end languages such as HTML, JavaScript, JQuery and CSS
• Demonstrated expertise with one or more JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular etc.
• Experience with JavaScript UI development using MaterialUI or JSX
• Experience with data visualization technologies such as Plotly, ag-grid, D3.js, and/or Bootstrap
• Hands on experience working with RESTful architecture
• Experience with AWS cloud platform (ECS (Fargate), API Gateway, Application Load Balancer etc.)
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred skills/Experience
• Experience working with languages such as Java, Node, Python or R
• Knowledge of git, Agile and DevOps development techniques
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle SQL, and/or other relational database technology
• Experience working with AWS serverless architecture
• Excellent understanding of application development life-cycle
